Collection A. I placed two book orders this month: one to updated our Readers collection and Clifford series titles, the other contained new titles for J Fiction and Y A Fiction along with updates to our Junie B. Jones series titles. B. Inventory of the EJ Fiction collection has been completed. Y A Fiction collection inventory is underway. With the completion of the Y A inventory, the children's collection has been inventoried twice in the last ten years (some areas have been checked 3 to 4 times). Collection development has been completed in all areas with the exception of the Easies. The children's collection is in very good shape for the size of this building and the community it serves. III. Projects A. Children's Clerk Typist, Kelly Olson and I visited District 13 classrooms this month as part of a Poetry Break program. We each dressed in outlandish costumes and burst into classrooms where we recited a poem or two and left abruptly. Response from the teachers was overwhelmingly positive. Each classroom then discussed the library and its birthday year. The program was a collaborative between the library and the Media Specialists at District 13, a great group of people to work with. B. Our Dr. Seuss Celebration drew 28 children and 9 adults. Participants created door hangers featuring the Cat in the Hat and the Grinch. They played Pin the Green Eggs on the Ham and watched Doctor Seuss filmstrips. C. Children's department staff represented the Library at the District 13 Kindergarten Registration on March 18, 19, and 20. Library card applications were taken and numerous booklists featuring our Readers, 1-2-3, and ABC collection were distributed. D. Projects for April include: . National Library Week preparations. . Collaborative program between District 13 and the Library featuring the web catalog. . MELSA workshop scheduled for April 3. . ACL/COH public service meeting scheduled for April 10. . The children's department is also busy tying up loose ends related to Summer Programming. IV. Staff A. Children's Clerk Typist, Kelly Olson aided in the production and execution of Poetry Breaks at area elementary schools. She designed and prepared National Library Week promotional materials along with materials required for the Dr. Seuss celebration. Kelly sent and received four book orders during the month of March. She also aided in the Ej Fiction and readers inventory. B. Children's Departmental Aide, Cristy Tombarge updated the program supply inventory, printed the Sampler, numerous forms, and verified book orders. Cristy has also begun compiling listing of "Kids Top Picks" in books. These listings will be produced in bookmark format as booklists for National Library Week. Cristy has nearly completed this project. C. Pages continued inventory, mending and processing.
