Rebecca Loader, Library Director SUBJECT: February operational report DATE: February 28, 2003 I. BUILDING MAINTENANCE A. Mindy conducted a walk-through with Fidelity Cleaners 2/13. B. The windows were cleaned 2/11. II. COLLECTION A. Book and paperback orders were submitted. B. A music compact disc order was sent to Baker & Taylor Entertainment. C. The Pages completed the magazine-mending project 2/15. III. EQUIPMENT A. The shared directory on the City network has become overloaded with files. Library staff have been deleting, editing, and moving many files from this section of the computer system. B. The Mita copier required service 2/10. IV. PROGRAMS A. The Friends met 2/3 with seven members present. Becky and Marsha presented the Wish List, and the following items were chosen to be purchased: 3 chrome 6-tier paperback racks, 10 newspaper archival boxes, 50 Melinex document envelopes, a wire display island for DVD's and videos, and a slat wall display and accessories for the Y A hallway. B. Becky and Jean Kuehn spent some time during the month photographing City employees, elected officials, and Commission members with their favorite books. These photos and quotes will be used to produce posters for a "Read Across Heights" bulletin board during March. C. Four sessions of pre-school storytime were held in February. D. The Library Board met 2/4 with one member absent. E. The bulk loans to the senior high rises were delivered 2/5. F. The bulk loans to the schools were delivered 2/6. G. The Library Foundation Board met 2/6 with all members present. H. Arthur's birthday was celebrated at a party in his honor 2/13. I. Mayor Julienne Wyckoff read Cinderella and The Red Balloon at "Storytime with the Mayor" 2/13. 1. Two field trips from Highland Elementary came to the Library 2/18 and 2/20. K. Adult Winter Reading Club, "Celebrate Libraries," ended 2/28. V. AUTOMATED CIRCULATION SYSTEM A. No changes. VI. STAFF A. Five staff members had performance reviews and employment anniversaries during the month. B. Kelly attended the Municipals Winter Workshop 2/4. C. Jeanine attended the Municipals Winter Workshop 2/6. D. Jeanine participated in a cable shoot 2/24. VII. MISC A. B. C. Debra Patrin, IRS volunteer, has been helping to maintain the tax forms available at the Library. The City version of the annual report was submitted. Representative Barb Goodwin convened a Town Meeting 2/22 in the Library's activity room.
