January operational report

I. BUILDING MAINTENANCE
A. The lock on the print room door had to be replaced 1/7 and keyed to match the other interior
door locks.
B. The pipes under the sink in the main floor workroom developed a serious leak and had to be
replaced 1/7.
C. Honeywell checked the boiler 1/8 and determined that the water pump needed a new seal.
D. The exterior canopy lights were repaired 1/13.
E. The windows were cleaned 1/14.
F. The security light in the southeast comer of the parking lot was repaired by Xcel.
II. COLLECTION
A. A large book order covering all subject areas was placed 1/23.
B. The large print rotation with the County occurred 1/29.
C. An order for feature videos was placed and received in part.
III. EQUIPMENT
A. The Mita departmental copier experienced various problems with paper feeding and
jamming. Coordinated Business Systems worked on it three times and appear to have it in
running order.
B. Staff identified a problem with the phone lines and the roll-overs 1/22. Tests were run 1/23.
IV. PROGRAMS
A. The Adult Reading Program started 1/6 with the theme, "Celebrate Books". 100 people had
registered to participate by the end of the month.
B. New Council members Tammera Ericson and Bruce Kelzenberg toured the Library 1/7 as
part of their introduction to the various City departments.
C. The Board met 1/7 with five members present.
D. The bulk loan was delivered to the schools 1/9.
E. Classes from Immaculate Conception School visited the Library the week of 1/13.
F. Bulk loans to the high rises were delivered 1/15.
G. Tax form season started early this year. Demand has been heavy.
H. A field trip for a Family Literacy group was held 1/29.
V. AUTOMATED CIRCULATION SYSTEM
A. 1/16 Al Rautio from ACL added access to the Intranet to the five circulation/discharge pc's.
VI. STAFF
A. Marsha met with Independent School District # 13 Media Specialists 1/9 to discuss ways the
schools can help promote summer reading club.
B. Marsha attended the CHASE steering committee meeting 1/15. The Library received
$4,450 through this grant for fiscal year 2003.
C. Marsha attended "Libra: Wise Up @ the Library" meetings 1/15.
D. Becky attended the Anoka County Library Public Service meeting 1/16.
E. Marsha attended a MELSA workshop entitled "Bright Ideas" on 1/16.
F. Mary met with Debra Patrin, IRS volunteer, on 1/24. Debra will assist with the tax form
program starting in February.
G. Mindy went on the new employee tour of City facilities and locales 1/28.
VII. MISC
A. MELSA crossover surveys were conducted 1/11 and 1/30.
B. Copy for the City newsletter was submitted 1/15.
e. Sales tax for 2002 was reported and paid to the State.
