Friends: The Friends of the Library did not meet this month. Their next scheduled meeting is on Monday, September 9, at 1 :00 p.m. at the library. In October, they will have an evening dinner meeting at 5:30 p.m. at Keys Restaurant in Spring Lake Park. Friend's members, Rita Norberg, Marie Marquart, and Sandi Engquist are all recovering very well from surgery they had this summer. B. At home service: I selected and processed requests for four "at home patrons". One was a new client who was a referral from ACL. Since Sandi Enquist was not available, Connie Carlson delivered the library items. C. Bulk Loans: Bulk loans were processed and delivered to Parkview Villa and Heights Manor on Wednesday, August 7. Tax forms: The order for 2003 federal tax forms was completed and mailed. During the past tax season, I kept a record of forms that were not used by the public. These forms were deleted from the 2003 order. I ordered additional copies of the most common forms and booklets because I had to reorder them several times last year. B. Monthly budget sheet: The budget sheet for supplies was updated for August. C. Booklists: I started a booklist on "100 Great Works of Fiction by Women Authors". This booklist will be given to Jeanine for typing before the end of August. D. Additional Projects: I prepared a brochure on using a PIN number. It will be ready for distribution to the public by early September. I contacted the Minnesota Planned Giving Council to receive information on the LEAVE A LEGACY MINNESOTA program. After the materials were received, I prepared an information sheet on the program for the Library Board. I prepared a Volunteer Task Description for an "Adopt-A-Shelf' program that will start at the library in September. This program is open to all patrons 13 years of age and older and will require a six-month commitment of four hours per month. Patrons interested in this program adopt a section of the library to keep in correct alphabeticallDewey decimal order. Hours for this volunteer project are flexible and duties can be performed whenever the Library is open to the public. E. Routine tasks: The scrapbook containing news clippings about the library was updated. I completed pulling shelf list cards for books withdrawn through June 2002. I changed addresses and posted notes on patron records from library notices that were returned by the post office. I filed microfilm and updated the labels on the microfilm file cabinet.
