I. BUILDING MAINTENANCE
A. Several major exterior painting projects were completed the week of 7/1: north stairwell,
south stairwell, window frames of East Room, all exterior steel doors, and panels around
windows in the Boardroom.
B. The windows were washed 7/1.
C. Heights Electric replaced two ballasts and sockets 7/16 - 7/17.
II. COLLECTION
A. The cd collection was cleaned and mended.
B. The video collection was mended.
C. Inventory is being taken in the following areas:
a. 300's
b. 600's
c. 800's
d. audio cassettes
III. EQUIPMENT
A. Schindler worked on repairing the elevator on 7/2 and 7/3. It has been re-calibrated to
accommodate the new packing around the hydraulic piston.
IV. PROGRAMS
A. The board met 7/2 with all members present.
B. Becky met with Mark Trunzo, Baker & Taylor (B&T) representative, on 7/8 to discuss
paperback orders and services provided by B&T.
C. Copy for the City newsletter was submitted 7/9.
D. Four Super Tuesdays were held:
a. 7/9 Dazzling Dave and his Y 0- Yo's Extraordinaire
b. 7/16 Kit & Kaboodle
c. 7/23 Family Fun Circus
d. 7/30 Bob Gasch as Paul Bunyan
E. Three Funtimes were held:
a. 7/11 "Cowhands"
b. 7/18 "Fantastic Fairy Tales"
c. 7/25 "Free for All"
F. Marsha was guest storyteller at programs at Highland on 7/15 and 7/17.
G. The re-scheduled BMX demo was held 7/29.
V. AUTOMATED CIRCULATION SYSTEM
A. MELSA changed to Qwest as its Internet provider on July 1 st. The various member libraries
have been migrating since that date. Anoka County Library changed 7/17. The initial
problems with the Web catalog have been resolved, but several tests had to be run the week
of 7/22. Service has been up and down while additional problems were addressed.
VI. STAFF
A. Becky attended the Public Service Meeting at the County 7/11.
B. Jeanine participated in a cable shoot 7/24.
VII.
MISC
A.
Becky met 7/22 with the City Manager and the Finance Director for the first review of the
2003 proposed Library budget.
A MELSA survey was conducted 7/29.
