Rebecca Loader, Library Director SUBJECT: June operational report DATE: June 28, 2002 I . BUILDING MAINTENANCE A. A large sinkhole appe ared in the parking lot 6/4. Public Works dealt with the problem and excavated the area before filling it in. B. The windows were washed 6/6. C. Quotes for several painting projects were obtained. II . COLLECTION A. Granger’s Index to Poetry has been up - dated as to the correct holdings in the database. B. The video collection has been mended. C. Inventory of the 300’s has started. D. Large orders of media were placed. E. With the closing of Bookmen, staff is faced with finding a quality paperback supplier . An account has been set up with Ingram on a trial basis. III. EQUIPMENT A. The blinds were cleaned, repaired, and re - hung. B. Ken Kee adjusted the Burroughs shelving in the East Room 6/11. C. The air conditioning did not work 6/17. A fuse blew in the transform er on the pole behind the Library and caused the voltage to fluctuate. Xcel replaced the fuse, and Honeywell got the air conditioning back up 6/18. D. The elevator was out of service 6/17 – 6/18 due to loss of hydraulic fluid. Schindler is addressing this re pair. IV. PROGRAMS A. The Friends met 6/3 with nine members present. B. The Library Board met 6/4 with 6 in attendance. The Board welcomed new member David Holmgren. C. Seventeen volunteens are working in the Children’s Department over the summer. Their schedule sta rted 6/7. D. Three Super Tuesdays were held: 1. 6/11 Teddy Bear Band 2. 6/18 Kenwood Puppets 3. 6/25 Bruce the Magic One E. Three Funtimes were held: 1. 6/13 “Bears” 2. 6/20 “Dragons” 3. 6/27 “Jamboree” F. Rich Wieber’s BMX demo was cancelled 6/24 due to inclement weath er and has been re - scheduled for Monday, July 29. G. The Board and staff participated in the Jamboree Parade 6/28. V. AUTOMATED CIRCULATION SYSTEM A. No changes. VI. STAFF A. Mary conducted a walk - through inspection with Fidelity Cleaners 6/6. B. Becky attended a special m eeting at LSS 6/6 to discuss the upgrade of the ACS and the closing of LDS. C. Summer schedule started 6/10. For the first time in three years the staffing positions are all filled. D. The four graduating senior Pages were honored at a breakfast 6/10. Graduate s were: Stephanie Bengtson, Alicia Cermak, Ramon Gomez, and Ben Pressler. E. Becky was able to borrow the City’s digital camera for the week of 6/10 - 6/14 to take th pictures for her presentation for the Anoka County Library staff day and the 75 Anniversary cel ebration. Cristy is creating slides in Powerpoint to be used for both projects. VII. MISC A. A display on the Central Avenue reconstruction project has been placed in the lobby. Information sheets and comment cards are available for the public. B. Saturday ho urs changed to 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on 6/8. C. A MELSA survey was conducted 6/21.
