was distributed and approved. Estelle Nelson’s resignation as treasurer is effective this month.
She has served as Friends treasurer for eleven years. Gloria Tarmann volunteered to be the new

Projects and goals
Tax forms:
A. All tax forms and publications received were displayed on Monday, January 14.
Rita Norberg came in on this Monday and helped display the forms. As of today Volume 2 of the
federal tax forms has not been received. Signs have been posted to help patrons locate forms and
to remind them not to ask the staff tax related questions. Debra Patrin, IRS volunteer, will again
be here on Thursdays and Saturdays to help distribute the forms and keep them in order.
Websites for federal and Minnesota tax forms and information have been promoted in the library
newsletter.
Book display:
B. This month’s display was “Fit happens” and featured newer books on exercise
and diet.
Adult reading program:
C. The adult reading program, “Hot reads for cold nights”, began on
January 22. As of today, 82 patrons have registered for the program. Earlier in the month, I
prepared materials to accompany this program. These included a reading log, booklist “Our staff
recommends these”, registration form, book review form and prize entry form. Book reviews
will be kept in a notebook on the counter. These materials were combined into a packet along
with cocoa or tea, a bookmark, and plastic book bag. Prizes are on display in the showcase in the
east room and include books, calendars, notebooks, pens, key chain, and gift certificates to
Barnes and Noble bookseller. Patrons have been very enthusiastic about the reading program and
mention seeing articles in the Library Sampler and the Northeaster newspaper. Two more
booklists for this program are being prepared. One is on “Gentle reads”, books with little sex or
violence, and the “Best of 2001” selected by Barnes and Noble booksellers. Postcards were sent
out to those who had participated in the 2001 adult reading program to inform them of the 2002
start date. If they bring in the postcard when they register for the reading program, they receive
an additional entry form. Additional entry forms can also be earned by completing a book review
form.
Data sheet:
D. Prepared the 2001 data sheet for the library’s annual report.
Supply ordering:
E. Numerous supplies were ordered this month including book order forms,
Monaco bags, laminate, light bulbs, and office supplies.
Bulletin Board:
F. The bulletin board publicized the 2002 Adult reading program and will contain
the names of all those who register for the program.
