I. :
Programs
Friends:
A. The Friends of the Library met at the library on Monday, December 3, at 1:00 p.m. I
presented information on the Barnes & Noble book fair fundraiser and Mayor’s Holiday Party.
Estelle Nelson volunteered to take the Project Bookshelf books to SACA on Friday, December
14. Nancy Rathbun made a presentation on starting a Friend’s book club. A member of the Elk
River Friends of the Library accompanied Nancy and talked about how her group conducted their
book club. The Friends enjoyed Christmas cookies and a talk on antique ornaments by Rita
Norberg. They will further discuss the book club at their January meeting.
At home service
B. : Three “at home service” patrons requested books to be delivered.
Bulk loans
C. : I selected and processed bulk loans for Park View Villa and Heights Manor and
delivered them on Wednesday, December 5.
II. :
Collection development
Books-on-tape:
A. The audiotapes I ordered from Baker and Taylor and Audio Editions were
received.
Phone directories:
B. Several additional Qwest phone directories were received and added to the
library’s collection.
III. :
Projects and goals
Monthlybudget report:
A. A monthly budget report of December expenditures through 12/17 was
prepared and given to Becky.
Supply ordering:
B. Security strips, cd covers, office and book supplies were ordered this month.
Promotional items:
C. I placed an order for promotional items, and they were received this month.
Book display:
D. This month’s book display featured books on holiday baking and was titled:
Christmas cookies, and candy and sweets…oh my! January’s display will feature book on
“Being fit” and include books on exercise, health, and diet.
Routine tasks:
E. I clipped news clippings for the library’s scrapbook and worked on the photo
albums. I also worked on the sheets of books withdrawn.
Graphics:
F. A holiday bulletin board was displayed with the theme: “Happy Holidays and a wish
for world peace”. Door signs with our holiday hours were also prepared and displayed.
Adult reading program:
G. I purchased books and gift certificates for the adult reading program at
Barnes & Noble and a few additional items were ordered from ALA. I also started on the “Hot
Reads for Cold Nights” booklists. I had postcards printed by IPC to promote the adult reading
program, and they will be sent to each person who completed a registration form last year.
Tax forms:
H. I ordered the state tax forms, and the federal forms are beginning to arrive. By the
end of the month, a list of signs needed for the tax season will be given to Jeanine.
IV. :
Miscellaneous
·
Administered page test.
·
Attended Golden Age Club Christmas Luncheon at Murzyn Hall on 12/6.
·
Attended the City Holiday Party on Tuesday, 12/11.
·
Reviewed Library seasonal plan for 2002 and made changes.
·
I was on vacation Friday, Dec. 14.
·
Prepared January shelf reading list.
·
Prepared copy for the January Sampler.
·
Sent out December issue of Sampler to City and ACL staff.
·
Posted New York Times Best Seller List.
·
Prepared signs for our holiday hours and posted them.
