I. :
Programs
Friends:
A. The Friends of the Library met at the library on Monday, November 5, at 1:00
p.m. with 9 members present. They discussed the upcoming Bookfair at Barnes and
Noble, Project Bookshelf, and decorated a box for donated books. Gloria Tarmann will
be the new treasurer and replace Estelle Nelson beginning January 1, 2002. Rita
Norberg, Nancy Rathbun, and Margaret Anderson volunteered to work at the Barnes and
Noble fundraiser. I also registered on-line the Friends for the 2002 Campbell’s Labels
for Education program.
At home service
B. : This was a busy month with 6 patrons requesting books through the
“At Home Service.” Sandi Engquist and Connie Carlson delivered the books.
Bulk loans
C. : I selected and processed bulk loans to Park View Villa and Heights Manor
and delivered them on Wednesday, November 7.
II. :
Collection development
Books-on-tape:
A. I placed an order with Baker and Taylor and Audio Editions for audio
books to expend the money remaining in my audio book account.
Out-state Minnesota phone directories:
B. The Qwest Dex phone directories I ordered
this summer were finally received and added to the reference collection.
III. :
Projects and goals
Monthlybudget report:
A. A budget report of expenditures for general and office supplies
was prepared and given to Becky.
Supply ordering:
B. Barcodes were ordered as well as miscellaneous office supplies. The
library cards ordered from Marudas were received.
Book display:
C. This month’s book display featured books on pie making and was titled
“Easy as pie”. I pulled the books for the December display, which will feature books on
Christmas baking and craft activities.
Page training:
D. I did page training on Monday, November 19, and Wednesday,
November 28.
Barnes & Noble fundraiser:
E. I set up a display table, which the Friends of the Library
used to promote the event. I also gift wrapped books the night of the fundraiser at Barnes
& Noble.
Routine tasks:
F. I updated the notebook of news clippings and arranged the photos in the
album. All the photos have been inserted, but they still need to be labeled. I also spent
time removing shelf list cards from books withdrawn.
ESL class:
G. I presented information on the library and gave a tour to the Step II ESL
class from NEI on Wednesday, November 21.
IV. :
