The Friends of the Library met at the library on Monday, October 1, at 1:00 p.m. with 5 members present. Marsha Tubbs presented information on the Library Fundraiser that will be held at the Har Mar Barnes & Noble on November 13. Several of the friends volunteered to distribute literature in the library’s lobby about the fundraiser. At their November meeting, elections will be held. Estelle Nelson has resigned as treasurer so a replacement will be needed to fill the position. The friends will also decorate a box for Project Bookshelf, and Rita Norberg will give a talk on Hmong Pa nDaku appliqué. At home service B. : I selected and processed books and other library materials for deliveries to 3 “At Home Patrons.” Bulk loans C. : Books for bulk loans were selected and processed for Heights Manor and Parkview Villa and were delivered on Wednesday, October 10. II. : Collection development A. I began an order for books-on-tape to expend the money I have left in my 2183 audiocassettes account. B. On Wednesday, October 24, I received a telephone call from a Qwest representative informing me my telephone directory order is on its way. She told me she had misplaced my faxed order and just found it. The directories will be added to the collection as soon as we receive them. III. : Projects and goals Monthlybudget report: A. A budget report of expenditures for general and office supplies was prepared and presented to Becky. Supply ordering: B. Several supply orders were placed: copier paper from Anchor paper, paper towels from Johnson Paper, and library cards from Marudas. Numerous office supplies were also purchased from Office Depot. Adult reading program: C. I began planning for this winter’s 2002 adult reading program and ordered calendars from the SELCO library system as weekly prizes. The theme for the adult reading program will again be “Hot Reads for Cold Nights” but with different graphics and new reading lists. IV. : Miscellaneous · Sent out library’s newsletter to city and ACL staff. · Prepared copy for Heights Happenings. · Prepared copy for the November Sampler. · Prepared Friends agenda. · Prepared November shelf reading list for pages. · Clipped news articles on the library. · Prepared time sheets. · Took up deposit · Withdrew shelf list cards. · Corrected patron addresses from notices returned by the post office. · Added books to COH-NEW displays. · Updated reading records of homebound patrons. · I was on vacation September 25 – October 5.
