I. :
Programs
Friends:
A. The Friends met on Monday, September 10, at 5:30 p.m. at the Keys
Restaurant in Spring Lake Park for a dinner meeting with eleven members present. I
presented them with a list of gifts they had purchased for the library through 2000 and an
updated membership list. They discussed the Barnes & Noble fund raising ideas and the
open house the Library Board wants during National Library Week in 2002. In
November they will bring in small quilts to put in the East Room show case. Margaret
Anderson, co-president, conducted the meeting in Nancy Rathbun’s absence.
At home service
B. : I selected books and arranged delivery for three “at home service”
patrons.
Bulk loans
C. : Bulk loans were processed and delivered to Heights Manor and Parkview
Villa on Wednesday, September 5.
II. :
Collection development
A. The 2000-2001 available suburban directories from GTE (Sun Directories) have been
received and processed.
III. :
Projects and goals
Book display
A. : September’s book display highlights a selection of new non-fiction and is
called “Fall for non-fiction”.
Monthly budget report
B. : A supply budget report of expenditures through September 24
was prepared.
Graphics:
C. The fall bulletin board illustrates the word library and includes library in
other languages. It is based on a bookmark that is currently available.
Tax forms
D. : The order form for 2001 federal tax forms was received and sent in.
Supply ordering:
E. I met with Clayton Pinson of Plastic Products for a quote on library
cards. Various office and library supplies were also ordered during the month.
Tours:
F. I conducted two tours for ESL students, which hold classes at NEI. Their visit
included an introduction to services and policies and a walking tour of the adult and
children’s department.
IV. :
Miscellaneous

Prepared copy for the October Sampler.
·
Prepared copy for Heights Happenings, Winter 2001-2002.
·
Supervised staff while Becky was on vacation, September 17-21.
·
Prepared Friends agenda.
·
Added newspaper clippings to library scrapbook.
·
Attended annual performance review.
·
Prepared October shelf reading list.
·
Added books to the COH-NEW displays.
·
Compiled a list of booklist subjects.
