Rebecca Loader, Library Director SUBJECT: April operational report DATE: April 26, 2001 I. BUILDING MAINTENANCE A. Water was discovered in the closet of the basement activity room 4/4. Public Works had to replace the back flow valve in the sump pump system. B. Orkin performed routine pest control 4/12. C. The windows were washed 4/12. D. Greenway pruned and trimmed the shrubs and perennials in the back of the Library. They will return to do the front as soon as the rest of the snow is gone. The front was completed 4/25. E. Honeywell checked the air conditioning units and adjusted the thermostats to Daylight Savings Time 4/20. F. Water leaked through the front door of the basement due to a blocked drain 4/23. II. COLLECTION A. Two book orders were placed in April. B. Orders for audio cassettes, videos, and compact discs were received. C. Weeding of the easy books continued. III. EQUIPMENT A. Discussion has started with the City’s IS Department and Anoka County Library as to the change-over of the pac’s from dumb terminals to pc’s. IV. PROGRAMS A. National Library Week kicked off with a fundraiser at the Heights Theatre. “Way Out West” was shown, and a cheque for $630 was presented to the Library by the Theatre owners, Dave Holmgren and Tom Letness. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make this program a success. B. The Friends met at Keys Café the evening of 4/2. C. The Board meeting of 4/3 was cancelled and a phone poll taken to approve payment of the bills. D. Marsha met with the ISD#13 Media Specialists 4/4 to discuss Summer Reading Club and LIBRA. E. Debra Patrin, IRS employee, volunteered time to assist patrons with forms during tax season. F. The bulk loan was delivered to the schools on 4/26. G. Marsha made a presentation about libraries to the attendees at Bring Your Child To Work Day on 4/26. V. AUTOMATED CIRCULATION SYSTEM A. A malfunction with the computer caused the notification system to run all night on 4/20. This has been corrected. VI. STAFF A. Marsha finished her portion of the kits project at LSS on 4/3. She will be submitting a final report as soon as possible. B. Becky attended the Public Service Meeting at the County 4/12. C. Lee Johnston started 4/16 as the new Library Clerk. D. Page training for Nick Olberding, Toni Swanson, and Joseph Torborg started 4/17. E. Marsha attended a Libra meeting on 4/23. F. Jeanine participated in a cable shoot 4/27. VII. MISC A. A MELSA survey was conducted 4/19. B. The Library participated in both tornado drills on 4/19.
