SUBJECT: Operational Report, March 2001
DATE: March 30, 2001
I. Programs:
Friends:
A. The Friends of the Library met at the library on Monday, March 5, at 1:00 p.m.
with 11 members present. Becky presented the wish list. The Friends voted to purchase
from the wish list the following items: wet/dry vacuum, two book carts, newspaper
storage boxes, and a display rack for children’s book/cassette combinations. The Friends
will be having an evening dinner meeting at the Keys Restaurant on Monday, April 2, at
5:30 p.m. I prepared an invitation, which was typed, duplicated, and sent to each current
member. At this meeting a sheet will be distributed so members can volunteer for
different jobs and time slots for the book sale. During the past month Friends members
Sandi Engquist did straightening at the library and delivered materials to several “at
home patrons”, and Helen Bartlett and Phyllis Charbonneau did straightening.
At home service
B. : I processed and scheduled delivery to four “at home patrons”.
Bulk loans
C. : Bulk loans were delivered this month to Parkview Villa and Heights Manor
on Wednesday, March 7.
II. Collection development:
Vertical file:
A. I started to order new travel brochures from each state. I can now order
these on the Internet using their www address.
Audio cassettes
B. : I had hoped to begin my first audio cassette order for the year, but did
not have enough time to do this.
III. Projects and goals:
Book displays
A. : This month’s display features books on gardening and outdoor projects
and is entitled “Spring”. Many books from the display have been checked out.
Bulletin board
B. : To celebrate National Library Week, I put up a display of photographs
of the library staff.
Adult reading program
C. : The Adult Reading Program ended on Saturday, March 24,
with 154 patrons registered. This was the highest count ever. A prize drawing from all
the entries was held on the following Monday and winners notified. Winners were very
happy with their prizes and enjoyed the munchies used as incentive prizes. The tea,
cocoa, and reading lists included with the registration packets were well received, too.
This was a very successful program.
Tax forms
D. : Many patrons have come into the library for tax forms. Debra Patrin, IRS
volunteer has been very attentive, and I greatly appreciate her help.
Supply ordering:
E. The stationery order and copier paper was received this month. I also
placed orders for light bulbs and miscellaneous office supplies.
Graphics
F. : The “At home service”, donations, and Friends brochures were updated with
the current library phone numbers. They will be duplicated next month.
National Library Week
G. : I placed a display in the showcase at City Hall using
photographs of the staff, NLW poster, bookmarks, and the theme: FIND THE BEST @
the library.
