The Friends of the Library did not meet in February. Their next meeting will be Monday, March 5, at 1:00 p.m. at the library. At the March meeting, Becky will present her “wish list”, and the Friends will discuss their April evening meeting and May book sale. After the meeting, Rita Norberg will be doing a presentation on antique buttons. At home service B. : There were deliveries made to four “at home patrons” this month. Bulk loans C. : Bulk loans were not delivered this month because I was on vacation. They will resume on Wednesday, March 7. II. Collection development: Phone directories: A. I picked up the 2001-2002 Minneapolis white and yellow page phone directories from City Hall, labeled and distributed them to stations in the library. III. Projects and goals: Book displays A. : This month’s book display featured new biographies, autobiographies, and memoirs and was accompanied by one of the adult reading program booklists. Bulletin board B. : This month’s bulletin board continued promoting the adult reading program, “Hot Reads for Cold Nights.” Adult reading program C. : “Hot Reads for Cold Nights” has proven to be a very popular adult reading program with 147 patrons registered by February 27. This is the highest count ever. Prizes have been given away weekly to registered patrons and to the staff who registered the patron. The reading program will continue until March 24. Tax forms D. : I had to reorder both federal and Minnesota tax forms. IRS volunteer, Debra Patrin has been at the library on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings helping patrons with tax forms. I greatly appreciate her help. Supply ordering: E. I took an inventory of our copier paper and will be placing an order by the end of the month. Anchor Paper was contacted, and a salesperson delivered paper samples to the library. An order for specialty paper will be placed later on in the year when that need is determined. I also contacted Curtis 100 about stationery for the library. A proof has been returned of the letterhead and envelope, and I’m waiting to hear back from them so I can place an order. IV. Miscellaneous: · Add books to the COH-NEW displays. · Prepared copy for the March library newsletter. · Duplicated signs for President’s Day. · Supervised staff while Becky was on vacation for four days beginning February 27. · Purchased additional incentive prizes for the adult reading program. · I was on vacation Monday, February 4-Friday, February 16.
