FRIENDS
: The Friends of the Library met on Monday, December 4 at 1:00 p.m. They
shared Christmas cookies, decorated a box for donated Christmas toys, and discussed the
holiday distribution at SACA. They decided to meet in January, but not February when I
am on vacation. At the March meeting, Becky will present the “wish list”. I will be
sending out a Friend’s membership brochure in the January newsletter mailed to them as
a reminder to pay their dues. I also asked for their help with shelf straightening, and
several members stayed after the meeting to get started. At the January meeting, I will set
up a schedule with them for straightening. After the meeting, Rita Norberg gave a talk on
pressed glass.

was the cooperative efforts of Nancy Soldatow, Jeanine Schmidt, and myself.
BULLETIN BOARD:
The holiday bulletin board was displayed this month with the
theme: Wishing you great big joys and little tiny ones, too.
ADULT READING PROGRAM:
I started preparing for the annual adult reading
”.
program. The theme is: “Hot reads for cold nights Reading lists will be included in
the program, and packets of cocoa, flavored coffee, tea, and popcorn given away as
incentives. I will be having a weekly drawing and a grand prize drawing at the end of the
program. As a goal for the adult reading program, I want to increase the number of men
who register and also the total patrons enrolled. I will have prizes for the staff as an
incentive to encourage them to get more patrons registered. I will be working on the
details of the program the rest of this month and into January. I contacted the SELCO
Library System and received an information packet from them on their adult reading
program for 2001. I purchased many of the prizes for the reading program at Barnes and
Noble, and also some through Demco and Highsmith.
