I.Programs
:
A.The Friends of the Library met on Monday, September 11, at 1:00 p.m. in the library
FRIENDS
boardroom with nine members present. Connie Carlson conducted the meeting because Nancy
Rathbun was not available. The Friends discussed the upcoming MALF conference in St. Paul, but
no one was interested in attending. After the meeting, I showed the Friends the privacy screen on our
new Internet browser and how to use the browser. Their next scheduled meeting is Monday,
November 6, at the library.

B. I selected library items and arranged delivery for six “At Home Patrons” this month.

C. I selected and delivered bulk loans to Heights Manor and Parkview Villa on
BULK LOANS
Wednesday, September 6.
IICollection development:
:
A. I called Qwest about the Minnesota directories I ordered last month by fax and

had to leave a message on an answering machine. As of today, the directories have not arrived and
my call has not been returned.
B.: I did not have time this month to place my last book-on-tape order for the year. I

plan to place this order in early October.
IIProjects and Goals
:
A. My fall bulletin board illustrating the word “read” was displayed early this month

and based on a Mary Englebrett greeting card design.

B. This month’s display highlighted new non-fiction. I pulled books on Poland for next

month’s celebration of Polish American Heritage Month. These books will be displayed the end of
September and through October and accompanied by a book list. The Sister City will be assembling
a display, placing artifacts in the showcase, and sponsoring a guessing contest at the library.

C. Three bookmarks were designed and duplicated this month: cooking, arts and crafts,

and health and fitness. Each boomark listed books and videos selected by the evening supervisors,
typed by Jeanine, and was designed by me.

D. I prepared a monthly budget report on general and office supplies and submitted it to

E. On Wednesday, September 27, I attended Word Basic and on Thursday, September 28,
