DATE: August 29, 2000 I.Programs : A.Thirteen members of the Friends of the Library met for a dinner meeting at the Keys FRIENDS Restaurant in Spring Lake Park on Monday, August 7. They discussed the library show case, pre-sale, book sale, and membership. They voted to not raise prices for the 2001 book sale and were pleased with the amount they made this year. They also discussed the distribution of free tickets to Friends members. Patrons who purchased a pre-sale ticket this year were given the option of joining the Friends of the Library for free. In 2001, these people would not receive a free ticket unless they pay their membership dues for the year. : B. I selected library items and arranged delivery for four “At Home Patrons” this month. HOMEBOUND : C. I selected and delivered bulk loans for Heights Manor and Parkview Villa and Heights BULK LOANS Manor on Wednesday, August 2. IICollection development: : A.The books on tape I ordered last month have arrived and are being processed. BOOKS ON TAPE B.: I caught up on items to be filed and added to the vertical file. Subject headings VERTICAL FILE added this month are: Mental illness; the Balkans; Watershed–MN. Hazardous waste disposal–Minnesota–Anoka County; Water–Columbia Heights; Multi -use center referendum–Columbia Heights. : C. I placed orders for Sun Directories of the surrounding suburbs and Minnesota PHONE DIRECTORIES phone books from Qwest. We have received the Sun directories and are waiting for the others. : D. The order for 2000 Federal tax forms was sent in early August. TAX FORMS IIProjects and Goals : A. “Aah summer...time to read” bulletin board continued through the month. BULLETIN BOARD : B. I selected and displayed current fiction from the collection in a display entitled, “Still BOOK DISPLAY time to read this summer...new and nearly new fiction.” S: C. I added current photos and news clippings to the library’s albums CRAPBOOK AND PHOTO ALBUM and dated them. : D. I hope to have duplicated by the end of the month three bookmarks: BOOKMARKS AND BOOKLISTS cooking, health & fitness, and arts & crafts. These were produced from titles selected by the evening supervisors. : E. New labels were added to the microfilm cabinet, vertical file, and shelf list to update or LABELS reflect changes. IVMiscellaneous A.Ordered and received supplies B.Attended City safety committee meeting on Tuesday, August 29 C.Added books to COH-NEW displays D.Noted address changes on patron records from notices returned by the post office E.Duplicated and posted signs for labor Day closing F.Duplicated and posted New York Times Best Seller List G.I was on vacation August 7-11 H.Supervised staff while Becky was on vacation, Friday, August 25 I.Prepared copy for the September library newsletter J.Typed and duplicated Friend’s meeting agenda MMK/jms
