C. Library Kids Lead the Way reading club We have registered 595 children in this reading club thus far. The Media Specialists Promoted the program well before school got out and starting registration the day after school ends has helped enrollment. I have not checked but believe this is the largest enrollment we have had in the first month. Last year’s total registration for this program was D. LIBRA (teen reading club) We have registered 144 teens in this reading club so far this month. Total registration last year was 163. The CMS media specialist did not have time to promote the program before school ended. I am planning a news release to coincide with the release of new Harry Potter title. I am hopeful that this will create th a resurgence in registration. The majority of registrations are coming from the 5 th and 6 grades with about 50% signing up for both reading clubs. We have 19 teens on our registration list for the Harry Potter Party. II. Collection: A. Processed orders for Audio Books on tape, Audio book/tape combination and a large order of Fiction titles for J, YA and easies. B. Weeding has progressed through the EJ fiction and into the readers (with help from Kelly Olson). We have also begun weeding the J 900's (with help from the pages). C. Collection develop continues on the J 500's. I am holding a large number of recommended titles for purchase and hoping that we will be able to locate some donated funds. Thus far I have purchased only those materials with 1999-2000 copyrights. I will be concentrating on this section while purchasing over the next year or two. III. Projects A. Storytime Kit committee for ANOKA COUNTY LIBRARY. I have been working on developing 30 storytime kits (my portion of the committees required 100 kits). Each kit requires the recommendation of 5 titles related to the theme. I have had limited time to spend on this task but need to make it a priority in the next two weeks. This Committee will need to meet at least twice more before we will be able to finalize this project. st B. 21 Century Grant and the HARRY POTTER PARTY. With the help of John Brosnahan, evening supervisor and Alicia Andrews we are well on our way to finalizing plans for the Harry potter Party. John has provided several items for use a door prizes and is in touch with people at Scholastic searching for even more items to help make this program a success. Alicia has been working on registrations for the LIBRA program and aiding in the preparations for Harry Potter. I plan on booking the performers the first week in July. C. Chase grants. Chase funds have paid for the promotional materials, prizes etc for the LIBRA program. We are beginning plans for TEEN READ WEEK (also funded through CHASE)and for the Author/Coffeehouse scheduled for Feb-April. D. Fall Storytime. Planning for Fall Storytime is scheduled to begin in July, Two separate programs are planned. Twilight tales (evening Storytime) will be held again this fall along with our traditional preschool selection of storytimes. E. ICS & BULK LOAN Plans for class visits from ICS and for Bulk Loans to District 13 schools will also be underway next month. IV. Staff A. Kelly Olson has completed the magazine project and moved the oldest issues into storage. She has also processed and received the book orders, processed Pos for Audio orders, typeset this month’s Sampler, and began publicity preparations for American Girl and Harry Potter. B. Pages aided in the magazine project and have begun mending of the J non fiction. C. I joined the director in Susan Miller’s evaluation as a page. We have had only one page downstairs during the evenings this month and business has been brisk. This has hampered the productivity coming from the department but despite the shortage we are managing to shelve materials, discharge and register 700 plus kids for reading clubs.
