Programs
A. FRIENDS: The Friends met on Monday, May 1 with nine members present. They discussed their
upcoming book sale and presale and signed up for work time slots. The Friends will meet again on
Wednesday, May 31, after the book sorting is completed. The presale will be Wednesday, May 31,
6 - 8 p.m. The book sale will be on Thursday, June 1, from 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. I presented to the
Friends two fund raising activities, book fair and gift wrapping, they could participate in at Barnes and
Noble. They were not interested in either of them, but would help publicize the book fair. Connie
Carlson and Nancy Rathbun volunteered to deliver books to the homebound through the ;;At Home
Service" Program.

A membership in the Friends entitles each member to one free admission ticket to the pre-sale. I
printed up a ticket in a postcard format and mailed them to the members. Most of the members will
be helping to sort and will have the opportunity to purchase books after the sorting is complete. They
have to pay the posted prices for the items, and I will record their purchases on the tally sheet. This
is the way I handled it in 1999 and it works well.
B. HOMEBOUND: I selected books and arranged delivery for three homebound patrons.
C. BULK LOANS: I selected and processed for delivery bulk loans for Parkview Villa and Heights Manor.
These were delivered on Wednesday, May 3.
D. TOUR: On Tuesday, May 16, I gave a presentation on the library and a tour to the ESL students who
attend class held at Community Methodist Church.
Collection development:
A. BOOKS ON TAPE: I prepared an order for audio books. They have been received and will be available
to the public in early June.
g. VERTICAL FILE: All the travel brochures received were labeled and placed in the vertical file. Last
year's pamphlets and brochures were recycled.
Projects and Goals
A. ANNUAL REPORT FLYER: I designed the annual report flyer with the theme, ;;Looking back 50 years".
The library statistics for 1999 were presented and compared to statistics from the 1949 annual report.
I also included the library boards, favorite books, popular performers, and world and local events for
1999 and 1949.
B. BOOKDISPLAY: The display of spring outdoor project books continued throughout the month. Many
books were checked out from this display.
C. GRAPHICS: The new library cards were received this month and will be issued when the old supply
is depleted.
D. SUPPLY ORDER: Miscellaneous office and library supplies were ordered and received.
E. SUPPLY BUDGET REPORT: A monthly supply budget report was prepared.
