HomeMy WebLinkAboutOperational Report from MaryTO: M. Rebecca Loader FROM: Mary M. Kloss SUBJECT: Operational report, March 2000. DATE: March 30, 2000 II II IV Programs A. FRIENDS: The Friends of the Library met at 1:00 p.m. at the library on Monday, March 6 with 10 members present. At the meeting, they completed a questionnaire sent by MALF, discussed their upcoming evening meeting, the book sale, and pre-sale. I showed them the camera, magazine covers, and easel purchased for the library by the Friends. Four patrons have volunteered to work at the book sale: Phyllis Charbonneau, Carl Aldridge, and Lorraine and Howard Agee. Nancy Rathbun will contact them to assign a work slot. Their next meeting will be Monday, April 3, 5:30 p.m. at the Keys Restaurant in Spring Lake Park. This is their annual dinner meeting. I sent out a dinner/meeting invitation to each Friend's member who did not attend the March meeting. Members are to RSVP to Nancy. B. HOMEBOUND: I selected books and scheduled deliveries to four ~At Home Patrons" this month. C. BULK LOANS: I selected and processed two bulk loans which were delivered to Heights Manor and Parkview Villa on March 8. Collection development: A. I did not have a chance to work on collection development. Projects and Goals A. READING CLUB: the adult reading club ended on March 25. On hundred thirteen adults registered for the club, and thirty-one members reached the status of Reading 2000 Expert by reading ten or more books. A prize drawing was held on Monday, March 27 and 21 prizes awarded. Prizes included three pewter bookmarks, five $20.00 gift certificates to Barnes and Noble, almanac, street directory, cookbook, reader's journal, reading light, tea set, birdhouse kit, Twin Cities monopoly game, paperback reference set, and assorted additional titles. The reading club celebrated its tenth anniversary this year and was well received by the public. I had set a goal of registering one hundred patrons, and the staff worked hard to reach and exceed this number. I appreciate their enthusiasm and support for this promotional program. B. TAX FORMS: Zillions of patrons have already picked up their tax forms from the library, and I expect panic to set in soon. I have reordered many of the federal tax instruction booklets. C. BOOK DISPLAY/BOOKLISTS: March's book display featured autobiographies, biographies, and memoirs recently added to the library's collection. To accompany this display, I wrote, designed, and duplicated a booklist. Jeanine provided the technical support for this booklist. D. SUPPLY ORDER: I inventoried the copier paper supply and placed the annual order with Anchor Paper. I also placed the annual paper products order with Johnson Paper. Miscellaneous office and library supplies were also ordered. E. GRAPHICS: I spent a lot of time this month designing a logo/symbol for our new library card. Becky decided on a design, and I plan to get a final draft completed by the end of the month. F. PROMOTION: Organized display for the City Showcase to be displayed March 31. Miscellaneous B. C. D. E.
