March operational report

BUILDING MAINTENANCE
A. The roof leaked in the adult reading room on 3/8.

Dalco replaced caulking on the air
conditioning unit and around several vents.
The restroom floors were stripped and cleaned. The activity room and kitchen floors were
stripped and waxed.
The activity room was painted 3/17.
Shari conducted a walk-through with Fidelity Cleaners 3/21.
Midwest performed the annual sprinkler test 3/22.
The fire extinguishers were serviced 3/25. Two of the older models had to be replaced.
COLLECTION
A. Marsha purchased juvenile science books with a donation.
B. Books, videos, and CD's were received.
EQUIPMENT
A. Two new PC's were installed 3/10 to replace Marsha's and Mary's work stations.
B. A new receipt printer was installed on the children's circulation desk.
PROGRAMS
A. Eleven sessions of storytime were held during the month with a total attendance of 190
children and 72 adults.
B. The Friends met on 3/6 with 10 members present.
C. The Board met on 3/6 with all members present.
D. Redeemer Lutheran came to the Library for a field trip on 3/13.
E. Two sessions of ;;Twilight Tales", evening storytime with guest storyteller Patty Wheeler
Andrews, were held on 3/21 (29 children, 10 adults) and 3/28 (7 children 4 adults).
F. Barbara Miller and Pat Sowada, Board of Trustee members, accepted a proclamation in honor
of National Library Week from Mayor Peterson at the 3/27 City Council Meeting.
G. Winter Reading Clubs ended 3/25 with the following final count of participants: 113 (adult)
and 178 (juvenile).
AUTOMATED CIRCULATION SYSTEM
A. Becky met with staff from the Anoka County Library and Aleksandr Chemin, Columbia
Heights IS Director, to discuss the next automation upgrade and how the two networks can
work together.

Becky and Marsha met with the 1SD #13 Media Specialists on 3/1.
Shari celebrated her second anniversary as the Library Clerk. Shari has worked at the Library
in two other positions since July 12 1988.
Tanu, John and Barb all had performance reviews in March.
Marsha attended a summer reading club meeting 3/16.
Marsha and Judy Yantos met 3/23 about up-coming programs.
Becky met with Councilmember Wyckoff 3/28 on the potential of an Historic Preservation
Commission.
Jeanine participated in a cable shoot 3/30.
Shari worked a table at the Highland Kindergarten Round-Up 3/30. She encouraged parents
to sign their children up for library cards.
Mary put the Library display in the City Hall case on 3/31.
MISC
A. A MELSA survey was conducted 3/4.
