Rebecca Loader, Library Director SUBJECT: May, 1993, operational report DATE: June 3, 1993 Significant Accomplishments A. The Friends met on 5/3 with 9 members present. B. The Library Board met on 5/4 with ali members present. C. Senior Citizen filmtime drew 24 people on 5/12. Departmental Goals A. Becky met with the directors of Anoka County Library and Anoka Public Library on 5/6 for the quarterly automation meeting. B. Interviews for page positions were held 5/10-5/18. Three new pages have been hired to replace graduating seniors. Heather Cook, Quendy Raymond, and Raquel Zamorano will begin training in June. C. On 5/11Jeanine and Kelly attended an in-service class on "Healthy Computing." D. On 5/20 Becky attended an in-service class on "Time Management." E. Jeanine participated in a cable shoot on 5/21. F. Jo and Kelly visited the elementary schools during the week of 5/25 to distribute brochures advertising the summer library programs. Issues and Problems A. On 5/4 Minnegasco replaced the main gas line coming into the building. B. On 5/4 a man barricaded himself in the women's restroom. C. On 5/10 the water fountain in the basement sprung a leak. D. On 5/14 the Fire Department inspected the library. The sprinkler system was inspected 5/25 E. On 5/24 vandals covered the walls of one of the restrooms with graffiti. F. On 5/26 a stolen car was abandoned in the parking lot. G. On 5/14 the water main running down 40th Avenue broke. This necessitated a major clean-up operation in the basement and closing the children's department for a week.
