Operational report #46 (May 5-May 18, 1991)
DATE: May 17, 1991
Significant Accomplishments
A. The Friends met on 5/6 with 12 members present. Their main item
of business was getting ready for the June booksale.
B. The Board met on 5/7 with all members present.
C. The senior citizen program on 5/8 drew 35 people.
D. On 5/16 Bernie Szymczak and the Sister Cities' group met at the library.
Departmental Goals
A. The Northtown branch of the Anoka County Library re-opened for business
on May 5 after being closed for eight months. The facility is
greatly expanded and they are slowly working out the final construction
bugs. Their first day circulation topped 4,000 items.
B. The telecommunications network for the automated circulation system
was re-configured during the week of May 6. This was very frustrating
as ail the buildings stayed open while they were doing such a major
change-over. The resulting response time is much quicker and lays
the basis for the online catalog.
C. Interviews were held to replace the graduating senior pages. Five
recruits will begin training on June 7.
D. The staff received training on Wordperfect and Lotus 1-2-3 during the
week of May 6.
E. The library budget has been submitted to Finance.
