Rebecca Loader, Library Director ~k~ SUBJECT: Operational report #45 (April 15-May 4, 1991) DATE: May 6, 1991 Significant Accomplishments A. National Library Week was celebrated 4/14-4/20. Two winners were announced for the Bookworm contest (there were 133 bookworms in the jar) and three winners for the book contest. In the children's department three first place winners were chosen in the coloring contest (pre-school age) and'four first place winnters were chosen in the poster contest (1-4 grade). Judges for the contests were Evelyn Reinholdson and Madge Sandgren. B. Six sessions of storytime and crafts were held with a total of 313 participants. C. Three pre-school field trips were held with a total of 77 in attendance. Departmental Goals A. Jo and Becky went to Bookmen on 4/17 to purchase paperbacks for the summer reading season. B. On 4/19 Mary Cooper and Jeanine attended the Municipals Banquet. C. The page manual is being used to test the new scanner owned by the City which will enter printed pages into Wordperfect. D. The library's juncque was picked up 4/19 to be delivered to the site of the police auction. E. Mary Kloss attended the "Message and the Medium" conference on 4/23 and 4/24. Please see attached sheet for summary. F. Becky met with Sheila, librarian at the NE branch of the Minneapolis Public Library,on 4/23 to discuss strategies for cooperation in 1992. G. Arnie Knutson was honored for all his years of snow removal at the library with a donut party on 4/15. Issues and Problems A. An adult male exposed himself to a patron on 4/16. The police were notified and a report was filed. A description was also forwarded to neighboring libraries.
