Significant Accomplishments
A. Forty-five people attended the "Caribbean Afternoon" program on
November 3. Live performers told stories, sang, and taught
native games to the audience.
B. On 11/5 25 preschoolers from Woodcrest Academy attended a field trip.
C. The Friends met on 11/5 with 15 members present.
D. The Board met on 11/7 with all members present.
E. Eight sessions of preschool storyhour were held with a total
attendance of 293.
F. 40 children from Faith Nursery School attended a special field
trip on 11/16.
The Senior Citizen Filmtime on 11/14 had 45 in attendance.
National Children's Book Week was celebrated November 11-17. The
winner of the "Name-the-Puppet" contest will be announced next week.
Departmental Goals
A. The flashing around the central air conditioning unit has been
completed, and the stained ceiling tiles have been replaced.
B. Torry Westlund has been hired as a choreperson at the library.
C. The carpeting project was awarded at the Council meeting of
November 13. Tentaive installation date of 12/7 has been
scheduled. The alternative date is 12/14.
D. The Anoka County Library has received the bids back from the
telecommunications upgrade for the automated circulation system.
Issues and Problems
A. With Northtown library being closed and a portion of the reference
collection being stored in the Mississippi library's meeting room,
demand for meeting rooms is high. Staff is encouraging people to
call early to reserve space as room availablity is sparse.
B. Two patrons presented the library staff with a potted mum plant
on 11/14 in appreciation of the library and its services.
