Rebecca Loader, Library Director]~ SUBJECT: Operational Report #24 (June 4-June 15, 1990) DATE: June 15, 1990 Significant Accomplishments A. The annual book sale was held 6/7 and 6/8. The Friends worked very hard and made a good amount of money. B. On 6/11, the library shifted to summer schedule ~ours. It was also the first day of summer Reading Club and 97 children signed up. By 6/15 244 children had joined in the various levels. C. The senior citizen program on 6/13 drew 45 people. D. The Board of Trustees met on 6/5 with all members present. Departmental Goals A. On 6/11 the adult staff took the graduating pages out to breakfast. This has become a tradition for the graduates. B. On 6/6 Cable TV North Central worked on the library's cable channel to try to resolve the "ghosting" problem. They also re-wired the equipment to enable staff to use the vcr for in-house training films. C. On 6/12-13-14 Mary Cooper and the pages worked to shift the magazines. from the current holdings racks into the storage room. This huge project went very smoothly, and the new permanent storage boxes worked great. D. Marsha Tubbs is training the five new pages. Training will occur over the next three weeks, and the new pages will be available for regular hours the first part of July. Marsha is incorporating part of the CORE training materials into the library's packets. E. Becky will be attending the American Library Association annual conference in Chicago June 23-27. Issues and Problems A. The Northtown branch of the Anoka County Library has announced its construction schedule. The building will close to the public on 8/13 and reopen on 2/15. Ail libraries in the county are expecting an increase in patronage as all those people will be looking for an alternative library. B. The lobby roof leaked again on 6/11. On 6/12 Ail Systems Roofing, TKDA, and Roy Goranson located the source of the leak. It will be repaired. C. On 6/15 Northern Air discovered that the air-handling unit's cooling coil has not been wired into the building's power source. The proper people have been notified.
