Rebecca Loader, Library Director~/L~ Operational Report #20 (April 2-April 14, 1990) April 12, 1990 II. III. Significant Accomplishments A. The Library Board of Trustees met on 4/3 and approved the proposed 1991 budget which will be submitted to Finance. The first draft was turned in 4/9. B. April 22-28 was proclaimed National Library Week by Mayor Carlson at the 4/9 Council meeting. C. The Friends met 4/2 with 16 members present. D. The Friends donated two silk plants to the library on 4/10. E. Staff went on two buying trips: one to Musicland for compact discs and audio cassettes and one to Bookmen for paperbacks. F. On 4/5 the library participated in the tornado drill. The patrons were very cooperative. G. The library's aluminum cans were donated to the senior class to help them raise money for the all-night party. H. The senior citizen program on 4/11 drew 62 people. I. Three sessions of pre-school crafts were held on 4/10, i1, and 12 with a total of 105 participants. Departmental Goals A. Two supervisors and two substitutes have been hired and are in the process of being trained by Marsha Tubbs. These new hires are replacing people who have resigned. B. Jo and Becky met with Diane Youngdahl and Marry Driscoll on 4/3 to discuss services the library can offer their clients. Diane and Matty are working through ECFE and a McKnight grant. C. On 4/4 Jo had lunch at Highland catered by MacDonald's as a prize for Highland being the top reading school in the reading club sponsored by the school media centers and the library. Issues and Problems A. The annual "tax crazies" are upon the library. The program which provides master copies of tax forms at libraries causes the staff many headaches each year.
