Angela Filer wa~ ~ v~ry dyn~mi~ lady wino focused developing and re-developing the skills required to deal effectively with all people. She required that the audience actively participate, by choosing difficult situations and presenting dialogues to share. The afternoon speaker, James Connolly, was a witty and entertaining man who covered the topic of listening to the public. By his manner, he achieved the goal of making us aware of strengths and weaknesses we may have in our listening attitudes, without being demeaning. On January 31, I attended the Municipals Winter Workshop. The speakers gave presentations on listening that were informative, humorous, and relevant. Angela Filer gave detailed advice on improving service to the public, especially when people are angry. James Connolly spoke on communication, specifically, listening skills. He emphasized hearing what people really mean, rather than what they say. This workshop gave both pos- itive reinforcement for good communication skills I already have, as well as taught me new ways co improve.
