BUILDING MAINTENANCE
A. The City Council voted 10/13 to have the library's roof repaired by Dalsin Roofing.
Work will be scheduled to begin as soon as possible.

COLLECTION
A. Adult paperbacks, juvenile paperbacks, compact discs, videos, and audio tapes
were added to the collection.
B. The easy inventory was completed.
C. Weeding occurred in the 300's of the adult non-fiction.
D. The adult fiction mending project was completed.
E. Two book orders are scheduled to complete the 1997 budget.
EQUIPMENT
A. The proposal to replace the materials security system was approved by the City
Council on 10/13. Preparations are underway for installation.
B. Becky's computer was upgraded for Windows 95 and for emulation of the
automated circulation system.
IV.
PROGRAMS
A. Twenty-four sessions of storytime were held in October with a total attendance of
127 adults and 307 children.
B. The Board met 10/7 with four members present.
C. The Volunteens were recognized at a special program on 10/7.
D. The Board met with the City Council on 10/7 to discuss the 1998 proposed budget.
E. The Public Works Director candidates toured the Library 10/13.
F. The Schiffelly Puppets performed 10/17 to an audience of 35 children and 14
adults.
G. Two special field trips were held for Head Start on 10/20 with a total attendance of
35 children and 10 adults.
AUTOMATED CIRCULATION SYSTEM
A. No changes in October.

STAFF
A. Mary attended MLA on 10/2 and was one of five finalists for a public relations
award. She gave a presentation and received a certificate for the Library's one-
page annual report brochure. ~

Rebecca Patrin passed the page test on 10/2 and started working the floor 10/9.
Lauri Willard failed the page test 10/2 and the repeat test 10/9. Due to family
complications, she has missed two of the scheduled training reviews and her status
is unsure at this time. If she fails the third test, her employment will be terminated.
Marsha attended MLA on 10/3.
Marsha attended a Summer Reading Club Meeting at the County on 10/7.
Jeanine and Kelly participated in the skit and helped with the planning and
decorations for the Municipals banquet 10/9. They worked very hard and put in
many hours on this banquet.
Mary celebrated her 19~ year of City employment.
Becky attended a workshop 10/16 on deaf and hearing-impaired awareness.
Jeanine participated in a cable shoot =10/29.
MISC
A. The staff judged the fire safety posters 10/23.
