ICS class visits resumed on September 22. Bo Baptist class every three weeks. Field Trips 1. We will be seeing 29-30 ICS classes each month and one Fourth I was invited to do a storytime at ECFE on September 24. This was advertised in their monthly Family Newsletter. Approximately 20 children and 7 adults attended the storytime. The response was favorable. ECFE staff requested a spring field trip to the library. I suggested they consider a Monday option and call early to schedule. Fourth Baptist brought a group of 8- and 9-~tear olds for a storytime on September 30. This gave me an opportunity to utilize my storytelling skills for an older audience. I spent more time preparing for this session than most, but I believe it was worth the time. II. Collection A. We have completed the easy inventory. I am awaiting the collection totals at month end ¢or verification, but anticipate that the collection size has been greatly reduced. I met ¢ith the Director on September 18 to discuss preliminary plans for collection development in 1998. We are considering a standing order program provided by a new jobber. I will be gathering pricing and discount information with the final decision to be made sometime in December. I placed a book order on September 18 for EJ Fiction, E Non-fiction, and easy books. We have possibly two book orders remaining for 1997. III. October projects will include: Projects A. Plans are well underway for the Volunteer Recognition ceremony. Pizza Man has again this year agreed to provide five pizzas, as did Dominoes. Rainbow Foods will be providing pop/bars, etc. Invitations have been sent and the certificates have been printed and signed. B. We continued with the labeling of the easy collection. Reading Rainbow spine labels are being applied to appropriate titles at this time. Our final spine label will be award ribbons for all Caldecott Honor, Newbery Honor, Coretta Scott King, and Maud Hart Lovelace nominees and winners. 1. Shifting of easy collection to accommodate expansion of the boardbooks. 2. Completion of an easy reader booklist. 3. Keeping in Touch newsletter. 4. Donation letters/requests. 5. ICS class lists/fine notification. 6. City newsletter-4th quarter. 7. Promotional materials for Schiffelly Puppets and Sean Brown. IV. Staff A. B. Conducted the reference section of training for upcoming pages on September 23. Coordinated work assignments for pages relating to inventory, easy mending project, and easy labeling project. MAT/k jo
