The Friends of the Library met on Monday, September 8~, at 1:00 p.m. with seven members present. They discussed MLA, future projects, renewing their membership in MALF, and participating in the library's attendance survey on Monday, September 29. Their next meeting is Monday, October 6t~ at 1:00 p.m. B. I selected books for bulk loans to Park View Villa and Heights Manor and delivered them on September 9% I also selected books for Royce Place, and they were picked up by Karen Fantle. One homebound patron requested books this month. II. Collection A. I started a list of audio tapes for my next order which I plan to place in early October. B. I placed an order for 22 pamphlets from Life Skills Education and sent out several letters requesting free information as listed in the Educators Index to Free Materials. The following subjects were added to the vertical file: BICYCLE SAFETY; EDUCATION STANDARDS--MN.; PARENTS, AGED; HOSPICE CARE; FLOODS; PAUL BUNYAN and HEARING AIDS. New brochures and fact sheets on the issue of abortion representing both pro-life and pro-choice views were added to update this file. Ill. Projects A. A new bulletin board was designed and displayed this month. B. I pulled books on Poland for the upcoming display in observance of Polish-American Heritage Month and updated the accompanying booklist. Seventy-five copies of the revised booklist were duplicated. C. Updated the touch tone renewal flyer and pin number form to reflect the new phone number. D. Started preparing presentation for the MLA Public Relations program. E. Completed updating the inventory control sheets by recording the amounts ordered from the annual supply order, amounts after supplies were received, and devised a system for recording the amounts of supplies ordered during the year. IV. Miscellaneous B. C. D. E. F. G. H. Jo Order sent in for 1997 federal tax forms. Added books to the COH-NEW display. Prepared copy for the October newsletter. Ordered and received supplies. Filed and withdrew shelf list cards Straightened labels on magazine Princeton files. Created new signage for the main bulletin board. Displayed "Don't hog computer sign" near terminals. Supervised staff on September 12% September 29% and September 30"~ while Becky was on vacation. I was on vacation Friday, September 5t~ and the afternoon of Friday, September 19. MMK/jms
