The Friends of the Library met on Monday, May 5, with 8 members present. The Friends discussed their upcoming book sale and signed up for the next attendance survey,. They also discussed the flood relief program for the Grand Forks Library and wanted to send them the books leftover from the book sale. I suggested they check into this further and also suggested they make a cash donation instead. This matter was not resolved at the meeting, but later on I found out the library in Grand Forks would only accept cash donations. I sent Rita Norberg the information on this so she could handle this with the Friends. B. I pulled books for two homebound patrons this month and arranged delivery. C. On Thursday, May 1, I took 15 books to Parkview Villa and returned with the same number. Later on in the month, I selected 20 books for a bulk loan to Royce Place. I was contacted by a resident of Heights Manor about the possibility of having a bulk loan started there. I told her I would contact the manager and did so and sent her the forms for a corporate card. As of this date, I have not received the forms back from Heights Manor. Collection A. I sent letters to the tourist bureaus of all 50 states requesting travel information and a highway map. The materials have started to arrive from the different states and will be placed in the vertical file as soon as possible. B. I started a list of audio tapes for my next order that I plan to place in early June. Projects A. I prepared signs and press releases for the upcoming book sale. News releases were faxed to the Northeaste[, Focus, Star and Tribune, and St. Paul Pioneer Press. Signs were posted in the library and sent in the delivery to the Anoka County Library branches. I contacted JoAnn Student and Northeast State Bank so they would advertise the sale on their outdoor signs. B. I ordered publications on Minnesota resorts, restaurants, hotels, campgrounds, etc. from the MN. Restaurant, Hotel and Resort Association. I also again contacted the MN Office of Tourism about the summer edition of the Explorer, and finally received my order. C. A new bulletin board was arranged and displayed this month depicting popular authors. The title of the bulletin board is: Popular authors-who are we? Answers are available in a pocket on the bulletin board. Goals A. I designed a brochure for the library's 1996 annual report. The theme is 1996 from A-Z. Copy for the brochure was given to Kelly the week of May 19. I ordered a special paper on which the brochure will be printed and am thinking about having it printed by IPC.
