HomeMy WebLinkAboutMarch 26, 19970TO: M. Rebecca Loader FROM: Mary M. Kloss SUBJECT: Operational Report, March, 1997 DATE: March 26, 1997 Programs A. The Friends of the library met on Monday, March 3, at 1:00 p.m. in the library board room with seven members present. They have collected 12,590 labels for the Campbells Labels for Education program and will redeem them for 8 video cassettes and a glue gun. No members were available to count patrons for our attendance survey, but they will discuss it again at their April meeting. B. The Friends next meeting is April 7, at the Dragon House restaurant with dinner at 6:00 p.m. followed by a business meeting at 7:00 p.m. I made arrangements for this dinner at the Dragon House and as of 3/25/97, 13 Friends have called with their RSVP. II. Collection A. During the week of March 17, I began an order for books on tape. The order consists of titles owned or "on order" by Anoka County Library and includes both fiction and non-fiction titles. B. I selected books and arranged delivery for one homebound patron this month. C. On Thursday, March 6, I delivered 15 books to Parkview Villa and returned with the same number. The circulation on those returned was 8. III. Projects A. During the month I continued to maintain the tax forms with the help of IRS volunteer, Debra Patrin. I reordered federal forms twice so I hope we make it through the season without running out. Even with all the signs I have posted, people still ask if we have tax forms but once in the East Room, they seem to locate what they need. I believe it helped to have the forms in labeled bins and in the revolving rack. B. I started the COH-NEW display of fiction and added titles to the COH-NEW non-fiction display. C. By the middle of the month, I completed labeling the shelving housing the current magazines. IV. Goals A. The Adult Reading Club, "Chalk One Up for Reading" continues until April 19. As of 3/25/97, 100 patrons have registered and 320 books were read. For each book read during the club, a chalk mark is made on the "Chalk One Up for Reading" bulletin board. I prepared a proclamation for National Library Week and gave it to Joanne Student to be signed and read by the Mayor at the Council Meeting of 4/14/97. Miscellaneous B. C. D. E. F. G.
