Programs
A. The Friends of the Library met on Monday, February 3 with 7 members present. They discussed
activities for Heights Pride and set: the book sale date for June 5 and 6, 1997. The April Friends
meeting will be the annual dinner meeting to be held on Monday, April 7, at the Dragon House
restaurant. Dinner will be a six o'clock with a business meeting held at 7:00 p.m. Invitations with
menu choices will be sent out with the March newsletter. Friends members wishing to attend the
evening dinner and business meeting will need to RSVP to me by Thursday, March 27.
B. I arranged bulk loans for Royce Place and Parkview Villa. Fifteen books were delivered to
Parkview Villa on a trial basis to see if they are able to retrieve them by the due date after being
checked out by their residents. Jim Bentendorf was glad to get the service started again, although
he was unsure of how he was going to distribute and retrieve the books.
C. Twenty-five books were selected and readied for the Royce Place bulk loan. Karen Fantle picked
up the books and signed the responsibility form for the organization.
D. Two homebound patrons requested books this month.
Collection
A. During the week of February 24, I started compiling a list of books on tape I plan to order the first
week in March. This list consisted of many on the best seller list and "on order" by Anoka County
Library.
B. I filed the items in the vertical file box, but didn't add any new subject headings.
Projects
A. Tax season continued...and twice during the month I reordered federal tax forms. I maintained the
forms and also had Jeanine create labels for new forms added. Debra Patrin, IRS volunteer, also
helped maintain the forms on Monday nights and Saturday mornings and has brought federal forms
with her to restock those we are out of.
B. I asked Marilyn Gray to compile a list of her favorite mystery authors and also have polled the full
time staff for their favorites. Their lists will be used for a mystery bookmark to be used in an
upcoming display.
Goals
A.
During the month, I displayed the prizes and reproduced all the materials needed for the adult
reading club. This included a registration form, reading log, and entry form. I also designed and
produced a button for the staff to wear. The 7th annual adult reading club, "Chalk One Up for
Reading", began Monday, February 24 and will continue until April 19. As of 2/26, 36 adults have
registered for the reading club. A "Chalk One Up for Reading" bulletin board promoting the club
was completed on February 13.
B. The COH-NEW display of non-fiction books was begun this month. These books were loaned to
COH-NEW for a period of three months, and it appears that many of them have been checked out
from the display. In March, I plan to begin the COH-NEW display of fiction books.
