Operational Report, December 1996
December 26, 1996
FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY: The Friends of the Library met on Monday, December 2 with five members present.
Seventy-two books were collected for Project Bookshelf, and a total of 722 books were collected in Anoka County.
BULLETIN BOARD AND BOOK DISPLAY: This month's bulletin board had the theme "Season's Readings". This
theme was repeated on both the door signs and flyers publicizing the library's hours during the holidays. This
month's book display featured books of holiday recipes, customs, crafts and music.
HOMEBOUND SERVICE: I selected and arranged delivery for two homebound patrons this month.
BULK LOANS: I did not make a delivery to Parkview Villa because they are remodeling the room where the
books were housed. A new person by the name of Karen Fantle is responsible for the books at Royce Place. She
returned the ones that were due, and I selected 25 new ones for her. The system of typing a book card for each
book seems to work for Royce Place because they can record to whom the book is checked out to.
GOALS:
CIRCULATION CAMPAIGN:
Free "Deck the halls with books and holly" book bags were given away to the first
twenty-five people who checked out 5 or more books from the adult section. Free
bookmarks were available to all patrons.
I prepared a seven month plan of circulation campaign activities which covers
November 1996 - May 1997. Activities include additional book displays, I love a
mystery month, and a book fair during the Heights Pride Open House in May.
SIGNS:
The CD bins have all been relabeled, and I started replacing labels on the
magazine shelves in the adult reading room.
TAX FORMS:
I had Jeanine prepare labels for the new tax form display rack, and I spent one
morning this month labeling the rack and arranging forms. I'm trying to arrange
the forms, so our patrons will be able to quickly find what they need. The tax
form instruction booklets will be in blue bins, and each will have a sign. I plan on
having all the tax forms we receive available to the public on Monday, January 6.
VERTICAL FILE:
The following subjects were added to the vertical file this month: Donations of
organs, tissue, etc.; home care services; home schoofing; and Twin Cities
Metropolitan area (MINNESOTA)-maps.
ADDITIONAL PROJECTS AND AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY WORKED ON DURING THE MONTH:
tallied supply inventory sheets
duplicated best seller list
prepared copy for the January newsletter
prepared a booklist on our newer hobby and craft books for January's book display
prepared news release for the Columbia Park Neighborhood News
attended the Golden Age Christmas luncheon at Murzyn Hall on 12/19/96
withdrew and filed shelf list cards
began planning the Adult Reading Club for '1997
