FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY: On Monday, September 9, 1996, the Friends of the Library met with 7 members
present. At this meeting, Becky made a presentation on "the libraries role in the computer age" with emphasis
on using the internet. At their next meeting in October, the Friends would like to know how to use the
computerized catalog to locate books. A copy of the compact disc, "The people we used to be" with musical score
by Mike Reiners, son of Friend's member Kay Reiners, was donated by the Friends to the library.
BULLETIN BOARD AND BOOK DISPLAY: September's bulletin board was put up on Friday, September 13.
The theme is: Fall into books. September's book display: Autobiographies and biographies with accompanying
bookmarldbooklist proved popular with our patrons and many of the books from the display were checked out.
During the month, I worked on October's display: Serial thrillers-novels in the tradition of The silence of the lambs.
This display will be arranged the week of September 30 and will have an accompanying booklist/bookmark.
HOMEBOUND SERVICE: I selected books and arranged delivery for two homebound patrons this month.
DELIVERY OF BOOKS TO PARKVIEW VILLA: On Thursday, September 4, Shari Briley delivered 30 books to
Parkview Villa while I was on vacation. She returned with 29 books which had a circulation of 47.
BOOKS-ON-TAPE: I ~ompiled an order of books-on-tape from Baker and Taylor. This order contained 14 fiction
titles and 6 non-fiction. Almost all the tapes ordered are current and in the database.
NEWSLETTER: I gave copy for the October newsletter to Kelly on ,Thursday, September 19. The newsletter will
be run the week of September 30.
OTHER AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY WORKED ON DURING THE MONTH:
withdrew and filed shelf list cards
made address corrections on patron records for returned notices
recorded supplies used from supply inventory sheets
ordered library supplies
pulled books for October's book display
participated in an annual performance review on September 25
was on vacation Thursday, August 29 - Friday, September 6.
