FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY: The Friends of the Library met on Monday, August 5, 1996, at 7:00 p.m. with nine
members present. They discussed the book sale and thought it went well. Next year, they again plan to hold a
two day sale. They did not think the "buy one, get one free" offer brought anymore people than usual to the sale
on Friday. They prefer the "bag sale" the last hour. The Friends are looking forward to having Becky speak at
the September meeting on "Computers and libraries".
BULLETIN BOARD AND BOOK DISPLAY: I plan to begin work on September's bulletin board, the week of
August 26. It's theme will be: Fall into books. September starts the first of a series of book displays with an
accompanying bookmarldbooklist. September's display is: Autobiographies and biographies and will feature books
published within the last three years.
HOMEBOUND SERVICE AND BULK LOANS: I selected books and arranged delivery for three homebound
patrons.
Royce Place cleared their delinquent account by paying for two large print books and returning the one overdue.
I selected 30 books for them which they will pick up. This time I suggested we type a book card so they can
record on it to whom the book is checked out to and their apartment/room number. They thought that would work
better. If the books are not returned by the due date, I will call them so their account does not become delinquent
again.
I delivered 30 books to Parkview Villa on Thursday, August 1, and returned with 24. The circulation on those
returned was 32.
GRAPHICS: This month's graphics included a bookmaddbooklist, an updated donation brochure, a flyer on the
new touch tone phone service, and a form for patron PIN numbers.
