Rebecca Loader, Library Director Marsha Tubbs, Children's Librarian August 14, 1996 Progress Report on Children's Department Activities from July 31 - August 14 * YA inventory complete - Kelly and I completed this project on Tuesday, August 13. We are awaiting the returns (RA'd) items. * Magazine shift - All magazines have been shifted. Kelly is nearly finished with the magazine holdings update and label changes for the storage items. * Easy readers have been relabeled and database changes made. * Volunteers taped J magazines (back issues). * Volunteers are in the process of visually checking filmstrips for scratches/tears/holes. * Pages have completed the easy mending project. HURRAY! We will be moving into YA mending soon. * J non-fiction inventory/weeding. Shari and I have begun inventory/weeding of J non-fiction. I discarded a number of items from the J000-J499 section. We will be picking up those areas that I did not inventory over the last 2 years. Once complete, we have only EJ tic and easy to inventory. * I have caught up on the book selection tools. Booklist and Kirkus - those in my possession at any rate. But I have six months of School Library Journal to absorb. * The filmstrip project is progressing - though slowly. I have added the newly purchased tapes to the collection, labeled them, and made changes to the cards. Weeding is complete through E. Once I have weeded the filmstrip/record combos, things will move much more quickly. We need to discuss a) the continuation or not of the filmstrip card catalog, b) a new check-out system.
