FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY: The Friends of the Library met on Monday, March 4 with seven members present.
On Monday, April 1, they will have a dinner meeting starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Dragon House Restaurant. The
Friends are beginning to make plans for the book sale and also plan to send membership brochures to those
members who have not paid their 1990 dues.
SENIOR CITIZEN PROGRAMMING: On Wednesday, March 13, George Erickson presented his slide program,
"Minnesota Critters...from bugs to bears". Fourteen senior citizens attended this program and refreshments were
served by the Friends of the Library. Mr. Erickson arrived late to the library and seemed somewhat unprepared.
He is a good photographer though and he was interesting to listen to.
Because of the computer upgrade, the April Senior Citizen time has been changed to Wednesday, April 17. On
April 17, Charles Nungesser will show slides of the Canadian Provinces. To publicize this change, I sent news
releases to the Focus and Northeaster. I will also put up posters announcing the change, and send posters to
Parkview Villa, The Boulevard, and the senior center.
DISPLAYS: This month's display was "Blooming Books" and featured books on gardening, lawn care, and
landscaping.
In the east room display case, I arranged a display of handcrafted baskets made by Aileen Sturdevant and myself.
On Friday, March 29, I will arrange a display on the library in the city show case. This display will have the theme:
Call. Log on. Visit. and will include a variety of pamphlets from the library along with puppets, books, buttons,
a t-shirt, an audio cassette, and a CD.
HOMEBOUND SERVICE: I selected and arranged delivery for 3 homebound patrons this month.
BULK LOANS: On Thursday, March 7, I delivered 30 books to Parkview Villa. I returned with 28 books, and the
circulation on those returned was 39.
During the month I was contacted by the activities director of Royce Place. She wanted to start a bulk loan which
would be placed on a cart and taken apartment to apartment. I explained to her that someone would have to
assume financial responsibility in case a book was lost or destroyed. I sent her the corporate card form to
complete, and the form was returned on March 28.
ADULT READING CLUB: As of 3/27/96, 125 adults have registered for the 6th annual adult reading club. I am
always amazed at the number of adults who register and how much fun they have with this. The reading club will
end on April 20.
BULLETIN BOARD: This month's bulletin board features the prizes for the Adult Reading Club.
NEWSLETTER: Copy for the April newsletter was given to Kelly on Monday, March 18. I will duplicate it on
Thursday, March 28.
