Operational Report, January 1996
January 23, 1996
FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY: The Friends of the library met on Monday, January 8, with nine members present.
They voted to purchase a display rack and Bob Proft's new edition of, "America's Medal of Honor recipients" for
the library. The annual book sale has been scheduled for Thursday, June 6 and Friday, June 7.
SENIOR CITIZEN PROGRAMMING: On Wednesday, January 10, Bob Ernt presented his slide program on New
Zealand with 14 senior citizens attending.
During January, I received back from the upcoming presenters their signed contracts. I plan to send news releases
to the Focus and Northeaster to publicize these programs and the fact the program will be discontinued after May.
I prepared a brochure to publicize the program too. It will be distributed at the senior citizen programs and is
available in the library's pamphlet rack.
DISPLAYS: January's book display is "Healthy Reading" and features a selection of new books on health related
topics and concerns.
February's display will be, "For a great getaway...take a video vacation" and will feature our travel videos. I made
a sign for this display.
HOMEBOUND SERVICE: During the month, I selected books for two homebound patrons and arranged delivery.
DELIVERY TO PARKVlEW VILLA: On Thursday, January 4, I delivered 30 books to Parkview Villa and returned
with 28. The circulation on those returned was 38.
ADULT READING CLUB: "All aboard the Reading Railroad", is the theme for the library's 6th annual adult reading
club which begins, Monday, February 26 and continues until April 20. Promotional materials for the reading club
were duplicated the week of January 16. Like last year, patrons will receive an entry form for a prize drawing for
each book read or audio book listened to. Prizes will include t-shirts, canvas book bags, and note cubes. Small
incentive prizes will be given out after patrons have read 1, 3, and 5 books. This year's reading club is open to
patrons 16 years of age or older.
ANNUAL REPORT: I completed the data sheet for the library's 1995 annual report the week of January 8.
