Kloss Operational Report, December 1995 December 28, 1995 FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY: The Friends of the Library met on Monday, December 4, 1995, with seven members present. The following were elected as officers: Rita Norberg, President; Betty Lichy, Vice President; Estelle Nelson, Treasurer; and Connie Carlson, Secretary. Marie Marquart reported she has 5,675 labels for the Campbell's Labels for Education Program. The Friends again provided holiday cookies and servers for the December Senior Citizen Program. One hundred thirty-one books were collected for Project Bookshelf and donated to SACA for the annual holiday distribution. SENIOR CITIZEN PROGRAMMING: Because of the inclement weather on the day of the December senior slide program, only 20 people attended. The program, "Impressionists' Paris" was well presented by Janet and Gareth Hiebert, and each senior citizen who attended went home with a small plate of holiday cookies. The funding for the 1996 monthly senior citizen program has been reduced to $75.00. This money will be used to pay the cost for two slide programs in 1996. I arranged for a total of five programs in 1996, three are free of charge. The five programs are: January 10, Robert Ernt (New Zealand); February 14, Helen McNulty (France); March 13, George Erickson (Minnesota Critters); April 10, Charles Nungesser (Nova Scotia, New Foundland, etc.) and May 8, John Farber (Alaska). Contracts were sent out the week of 12/26. DISPLAYS: Book displays for the month of December were: Holiday Books and "Books you may have missed" (newer non-fiction). I selected books for January's display, "Healthy Reading" which will feature new books purchased in 1995 on health related topics and concerns. HOMEBOUND SERVICE: During December, I selected books for two homebound patrons and arranged delivery. DELIVERY TO PARKVlEW VILLA: On Friday, December 1, I delivered 30 books to Parkview Villa and returned with 33. The circulation on those returned was 46. BULLETIN BOARD: December's bulletin board was "Joy to the world...let nature sing". I hope to begin on January's bulletin board the week of 12/26. MISCELLANEOUS: On Thursday, December 7, I attended the Golden Age Holiday Dinner at Murzyn Hall. For entert-ainment after their dinner, I read "A Cup of Christmas Tea" by Tom Hegg.
