Rebecca Loader, Library Director November operational report November 23, 1999 BUILDING MAINTENANCE A. Fidelity Cleaners conducted a walk-through with Linda Magee and Shari on 11/18 to evaluate the cleaning and pinpoint problem areas. Proposals are being prepared for tile and carpet cleaning. COLLECTION A. Becky and Shari went to Bookmen 11/29 to pick up year 2000 editions of Fodor's travel guides and miscellaneous series books. The increased discount on these items makes the trip worthwhile. EQUIPMENT A. No changes. PROGRAMS A. The Friends met 11/1 with 11 members present. B. Eleven sessions of storytime were held during the month with a total attendance of 147 adults and 60 children. C. The Board met 11/2 with four members present. D. Marsha was guest storyteller for Mother read/Father read programs 11/8 and 11/15. E. National Children's Book Week was celebrated 11/15-11/20 with special events and contests. Library Board members Dona Jolly and Barb Miller joined Marsha and Betsy Hoium in a special storytime on 11/16. F. On 11/30 the City presented a handcrafted symbolic ornament to the Anoka County Historical Society for the County Christmas tree. Made by Library Board Chair Barb Miller, the ornament will become a part of the museum's permanent collection. Many City staff, officials, and dignitaries attended the program at the Museum. AUTOMATED CIRCULATION SYSTEM A. No changes. STAFF A. B. C. D. E. Becky attended the annual Snow Meeting at Public Works on 11/3. Jeanine celebrated 13 years as a Library employee. Marsha attended a Carolyn Feller Bauer workshop on reading 11/5. Rachel Wells joined the staff as a Library Page. Marsha participated in a workshop 11/13 entitled, "Re-defining Best Books for Young H. I. J. Adults." Becky attended an Oversight Committee Meeting 11/16. The latest draft of the proposed retention schedule was reviewed and prepared for presentation to the City Council. Marsha, Mary and Becky participated in Employee Assistance Program training on 11/16 and 11/17. Becky attended the Anoka County Library public service meeting on 11/18. Becky met with representatives of the new telephone system 11/22. Interviews for the vacant page positions are being conducted. VII. VIII IX MISC A. A MELSA survey was conducted 11/3.
