Rebecca Loader, Library Director July operational report July 30, 1999 BUILDING MAINTENANCE A. The back door of the Library was discovered open at 8:00 a.m. on 7/12. B. The parking lot was sealcoated 7/15. C. Two signs depicting the City's Mission Statement were installed 7/29. COLLECTION A. The adult audio cassettes and large prim book collection were shifted. B. Orders for compact discs and adult audio cassettes were placed. EQUIPMENT A. Potential phone vendors were invited to a pre-bid conference 7/21 at City Hall. None elected to tour the Library. PROGRAMS A. Five Pre-school Funtimes were held in July with a total attendance of 90 children and 37 adults. B. Five Teacher Storytimes were held in July with a total attendance of 54 children and 25 adults. C. Four Super Tuesdays were held in July with a total attendance of 514 children and 176 adults. D. The Board met 7/6 with four members present. E. The Friends of the Library did not meet in July. F. 133 people attended the special program 7/26 entitled, "This Train is Bound for Glory". Staff received much positive feedback from those attending on the program. Sponsorship was shared by the Anoka County Historical Society, Columbia Heights Public Library, VFW Post //230 (Columbia Heights), and Sister Cities Committee (Columbia Heights). AUTOMATED CIRCULATION SYSTEM A. No changes in July. STAFF A. Becky has worked on a project concerning the City's cleaning service and HVAC contract during the month. Becky prepared a departmental Y2K plan and attended two Y2K City Committee meetings. Kelly attended a workshop entitled, "Best New Children's Books" on 7/14. Becky participated in a meeting with representatives of Honeywell 7/26. Marsha met with a Buetow Associates representative concerning the City's Space Needs Study on 7/23. Becky met with Buetow Associates representatives concerning the City's Space Needs Study on 7/27. Representing the City of Columbia Heights, Becky worked at the Anoka County Fair on 7/28. Marsha participated in a cable shoot 7/29. VII. VIII IX MISC A. A MELSA survey was conducted 7/28.
