B. Library Kids are Cool summer reading club registration began June 14. We registered 169 children by the end
of the second day. Registration at this time is 454 children.
C. Enchantment of Libra, our NEW reading club for older children (ages 9 and up) is off to a great a start.
By the end of the first week we had registered over 50 middle school students. Due to the early dismissal of the
Middle School, I think it is safe to say that the majority of these early registrations were CMS Students. Registration
counts for the Libra program total 132 to date.
D. Funtime/Storytime started with a BANG on June 17. The theme for the day was "hats"and the kids arrived
wearing their favorite fishing hats and sun hats. June 24's theme was "summer fun activities" and the group did
chalk drawings on the sidewalks for Jamboree Registration:

B. Placed an order for J and YA audio cassettes (unabridged books on tape). These are very popular and are
being used by a number of ESL students as well as the parents for both in the car and bedtime activities. The kids
like them as a read along activity. Kelly designed a display area and developed promotional material to advertise
"read it .... listen to it". The display draws attention to the collection.
C. Completed the JFIC weeding and shifted the collection to allow for housing of the J and YA
Audio Cassette collection. New shelf labels were made and applied. The shift also opened up one end of the
room for a seating area (small but nice) for the older kids.
Projects
A. Began and completed an inventory of the storytime collection items. The inventory lists will be on the shared
directory within the the city network. The lists include all library holdings for flannel boards, filmstrips (storytime
only) books, big books, puppets, puppet props, posters, finger puppets etc.
B. Kelly Olson, clerk typist, completed the magazine discarding and moved 1year of holdings from the main floor
to storage. She is in the process of compiling new holdings lists and updating the county's data regarding our
collection.
C. Volunteers began their summer schedule the week of June 7. We started the season with a possible 6
volunteers, lost 2 the first week (they found other jobs) but we gained another 4 in the first week of programming.
We now have a total of 8 volunteers, more than enough to keep us busy this summer.
A.. Pages have been working on preparing the craft pieces for our Funtime activities, registering reading club
members, and shelving the materials returned daily. With the turnover in pages this season, I am somewhat
concerned that keeping up the pace during a very busy time may be difficult. I plan on working closely with the
new pages as they come onto the staff.
