HomeMy WebLinkAboutOperational Report from MaryTO: M. Rebecca Loader FROM: Mary M. Kloss SUBJECT: Operational Report, June, 1999 DATE: June 28, 1999 Programs A. FRIENDS: The Friends of the Library held their annual book sale on Thursday, June 3, from 9:00 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. New this year was a pre-sale held the night before the sale was open to the general public. It attracted 28 people who paid a $5.00 donation. Pre-sale tickets were sold at the library and at the door of the sale. The Friends made $851.66 which includes the pre-sale ticket donations. Book sorting and a general meeting were held on Wednesday, June 2. The Friends voted to not meet this summer and their fall meeting schedule is: Monday, September 13 at 1:00 p.m.; Monday, October 4, dinner meeting 6:00 p.m. (restaurant to be announced), and Monday, November 1 at 1:00 p.m. I received mixed comments from the Friends about the pre-sale. Some really liked it; others did not. I hope they decide to have the pre-sale again next year, because the people who attended really enjoyed themselves. It was time for a change, too. It also worked well to have the Friends shop at the book sale after their meeting. I checked each one out so the money count was accurate. B. HOMEBOUND: This month, I selected books and arranged delivery for four homebound patrons. C. BULK LOANS: Bulk loans were prepared and delivered to Parkview Villa and Heights Manor on Wednesday, June 2. II. Collection A. I did not work on collection development this month. III. Projects & Goals A. BOOK DISPLAY: June was audio book month. I displayed a selection of audio books which featured new ones recently added to the collection. The theme was: So many book, so little time...just push play. I pulled books for July's display which will feature books on summer activities. Some of the areas covered are fishing, grilling, picnicking, golfing, water gardening, traveling, putting foods by, and building outdoor equipment. BUDGET REPORT: An updated budget report was given to Becky for the month of June. WORD PROCESSING: I produced many documents this month including news releases for Heights Happenings and Heights Insights. INVENTORY: I took the annual inventory of office and general supplies and began the supply order. SHELF LIST: I shifted the shelf list catalog to increase the space available in many of the drawers.
