arting this month the library director's report will have a new format as a direct result
input and discussion at the team building sessions held with thc Division Heads and the
City Council.. Major headings will be listed with a brcakdown of projects-in-process ~nd
progress reports.
BUILDING MAINTENANCE
The recurring problem with one of the sec~.lons of
lights in the adult reading room has been tr.xc.c'.d to
a faulty relay and repaired.
Carpet cleaning for the whole building has been
scheduled for June 11, with Steamatic having thc lowest
quote.
Multiple Concepts will rcpair tho rippled carpeting
in the main lobby.
The Park Department has been doing the -., ~r,:t m,'~int,'nance
until a chorepe~'son is hired ami cra-board.

The graduates can work through August and the new
recruits will be trained in July to assume regular
schedules ~n September.

A major video order has been placed Io help develop
the library's t~tle collection.
The Children's librarian is order;ng,., replac,,ment_ titles
for many worn-ot~t copies of older books.

COLLECTION (cont.)
All Dewey numbers have been entered in the retrospec-
tive conversion project. Only thc juvenile ~ictien
and one-thir4 of the easy l iction reu~,)in unlinked.
The new magazines are now being entered with item
specific barcodes. No retrospective conversion will
be done with the magazines because of the large quantity
~he library owns.
AUTOMATED CIRCULATION SYSTEM
The major 2.0 enhancement was loaded into the computer
over the Memorial Day week-end. The staff had been
given hand-outs on changes the week before a:ld the
change-over went well. The menus and screens have been
combined for more efficient access, ami several Junctions
have been fine-tuned.

Two college students have begun work o'..: producing ten
television shows to be broadcast over th~~ Iibrarv's
