Rebecca Loader, Library Director SUBJECT: DATE: Operational Report #11 (November 20- December 1, 1989) December 1, 1989 Significant A. Jeanine accomplishments Schmidt celebrated her third year anniversary at the library on November 3. B. A public hearing was held on November 20 on the proposed 1990 City budget. One citizen commented favorable on library programs, and one citizen called for recruitment of volunteers from the community. Councilmember Carlson remarked on the existence of the Friends of the Library and their involvement in the library. C. Two paperbacks for the Young Adult corner were delivered and installed. The Friends provided the funds for these two items. Co Fo Departmental goals A. The Friends continued to work on re-labelling the adult fiction. B. Mary Kloss, Joanne Scudder, and Becky attended a telephone seminar held at City Hall on November 21. Estimates have been taken on painting the lobby, main floor restrooms, and janitor's closet. This work has been scheduled for December 14. Estimates have been taken on sealing the waterstains and repainting the ceiling in the adult reading room. This work will be scheduled as soon as the current leakage problem is solved. An additional trunk line has been added to the library. This number will be used for the TDD device donated by the Friends through a Community Development Block Grant. The construction punchlist is almost complete. A typed directory on one power panel, a part on one rooftop unit, and the balancing of the heating/ventilating system remain to be finished. Issues and problems A. The roof leaked again on 11/27/89. Roofing has responded.
