Rebecca Loader, Library Director SUBJECT: Operational Report #10 (Nov. 6-17, 1989) DATE: November 17, 1989 I. Significant accomplishments A. The Friends of the Library met on November 6. Becky was invited to submit a "wish list" for the members' consideration. The Friends voted to purchase two upholstered benches for the adult reading room, two paperback racks for the Young Adult Corner, and two video towers for the adult reading room. These generous gifts have been ordered. B. Four sessions of preschool storyhour and four sessions of Tiny Tots storyhour were held during this time period. A total of 190 children and 57 adults participated in the programs. C.57 people attended the 11/8 senior citizen program. A survey was conducted to determine if a change in date or format would be appropriate. D.On 11/13 45 children participated in the Daycare storytime. E. 11/14 was the annual Board Appreciation Dinner. Held at Leon's, the business meeting was followed by dinner in the banquet room. The Board also visited the bar to "pull a tab" in support of the Boosters' generous gift to the library. F. Gamma Sigma Sigma sorority sponsored a special evening storytime on November 16. G. Faith Nursery School attended a special fieldtrip to the children's department on November 17. II. Departmental goals A. The Friends worked on a re-labelling project in the adult fiction section of the library. As the collection is shifted into the new shelving, they are correcting spine labels. B. The construction is progressing. The lights, diffuser, and pipes have been moved in the lobby, and the ceiling is restored. There are still a few punchlist items to be done. The library was without the boiler for nearly nine days during the pipe-moving portion of the project. The brown room is nearly done in the collection shift, and the records, microfilm, and periodicals are in their new positions in the room. Staff is working about one hour per day moving books. III. Issues and problems A.
