Rebecca Loader, Library Director SUBJECT:Operational Report #2 (July 3-14, 1989) DATE: July 17, 1989 Significant accomplishments A. The Friends met on July 10 with fifteen memoers present. They were pleased with the results of the booksale and are finalizing plans for the Annual Salad Bar Luncheon and Raffle on September 14 at Murzyn Hall. B. The bushes in the back were trimmed and the rock ground cover cleaned up. C. On June 10 Becky made a presentation to the Boosters' Financial Committee regarding furniture proposed for the library. D. The Tuesday Special on June 11 featured P.T. Flamdazzle (a magician) and drew a crowd of 217. E. On July 11, Kimberly Englund and Sandy Paadock starte~ the library's page training program under the sharp eye of trainer Marsha Tubbs. F. Two Pre-School Funtimes were held on July 6 and 13 with 65 anu 52 children participating on the respective dates. G. The Library Board of Trustees held its regular meeting on July 11. H. Three pages observed work anniversaries in July: Jennifer Jin (24 months), Lisa Erpelding (24 months), and Michelle Salsbury (4~ months). I. A new cleaner will begin at the library 8/14/89. Departmental goals A. The first videos of the new year are ready and broadcast has started on channel 53. Shows are scheduled in the morning and evening hours. B. A pre-construction meeting was held on June 11. The schedule appears to be holding: the Brown Room, boardroom, and office will be closea July 31-August 25, and the entire main floor will be closed August 14-25. The children's room will continue full operation during this time. The air handler for the basement has been disable~ until construction begins. Issues/Problems A. The library's new copier is not performing as expected. After many service calls, a letter has been sent to the vender voicing the problems and concerns. B. The annual ant invasion has begun in the basement of the library. Staff is trying to deal with the problem internally.
