Betsy Hoium began shooting videos for use on the library's cable
channel. Betsy worked for the library last summer producing
videos and is working this year under another grant from the
Cable Commission. She writes, produces, and directs, and the
staff and paid actors are the stars. The first videos will be
broadcast the week of July 10 on Channel 53.
A pre-construction meeting was held June 20. The library will
potentially have to close the main floor for two weeks. The
construction calendar is being closely watched.
Becky attended the American Library Association annual conference
in Dallas, Texas, from June 24-28. She attended workshops entitled:
"Too Many Books, Too Few Reviews, .... High Tech Stuff in Low Tech
Space," "Taking Advantage of Power and Politics: Managing in the
Real World," "Public Library Effectiveness," and "Swap 'n Shop:

III. Issues/Problems
A. The air conditioning unit over the Brown Room was down June 27-
July 3. Bill Antzaras managed to get it running. He also repaired
the interior railing into the basement and a broken hinge on the
toy chest.
B. The roof leaked again when the roofing company came out to work
on the seams. No books were lost and/or damaged. The roofing
company has been out several times and TKDA has been notified
to pursue solving this problem.
C. Preparations are being made for closing the library's card catalog.
The collection has been entered in the fiche catalog (which includes
the Anoka County and Anoka Public Libraries), and staff will be
closing the card catalog as soon as all the necessary supplies
are received.
